About Me

Your dog's new mate, Holly!

Hello!

My name's Holly, I'm the founder of Fulfilled Fido. Let me tell you a little bit about myself and my experience that led me to create this business.

As most animal lovers will tell you, my love for animals started from a young age as I grew up with dogs, cats and various small animals. I was always fascinated by them and their behaviour and loved being in their company. This motivated me to become a volunteer at the RSPCA in my teens, where I would regularly spend my weekends and Christmases helping out at the shelter. Fast forward a few years to when I decided to go travelling, spending a lot of time in South East Asia and Australia before deciding to live and work in Australia on a more permanent basis.

During my time overseas, I worked in various animal care roles, ranging from pet hotels, board and train facilities, dog walking franchises and dog shelters. At that time, me and my partner had made Melbourne our home, so we decided we wanted to start fostering animals. We fostered dogs, cats and even rats! We fostered dogs that had come from various backgrounds, some fit in right away and others took a little longer to adapt to their environment. It was during this time that I had a keen interest in learning more about dog behaviour, past the point of just having physical experience from working closely with them but a deep desire to learn more about how dogs learn and what motivates them as individuals, for the purpose of being able to understand and help our foster dogs adapt more easily to their new environment and the complications that came with bringing new dogs into our home with minimal knowledge of their history, or sometimes knowledge of previous negative experiences that they had before coming to us.

This led me to start studying with Delta Institute, Australia's leaders in evidence based, positive reinforcement training. I learnt so much about canine learning theory, alongside working as a Trainer for Melbourne Dog Trainers, I was able to implement this knowledge every day which allowed me to grow in confidence quickly. After only a short time working for Melbourne Dog Trainers, I was running back to back group classes in sizes of 12, including puppy classes, basic and advance obedience as well as puppy socialisation classes. Not too long after that I was taking on private consultations.

Since graduating from the Cert IV in companion animal services in 2020 and returning back to the UK permanently, I have worked with a wide range of dogs and clients with various training and behaviour issues. One thing that has always stood out to me is the importance of understanding your dog as an individual but also the importance of their breed specific needs. Meeting these needs directly impacts their overall behaviour in such a positive way and it's rarely ever the focus in the dog training industry! But it has the power to massively reduce and even eliminate undesirable behaviours. That within itself inspired me to create a business based on providing solutions for clients and their companions that encourages breed specific fulfilment but also motivating clients in ways that creates a fun learning environment for everyone involved, improving the understanding and bond between dogs and their humans. In my spare time I like to continue my career development, attend music gigs, travel, draw and paint. A fun fact about me, I'm also a pet portrait artist! Check out my pet portraits here
